Dale Barltrop, Laurence Matheson and Blair Harris at Cygnet Recitals
Cygnet Recitals was conceived by Jan Grant, a beloved and renowned supporter of the arts, in 2015 as a way of presenting established and emerging musicians in the elegant surrounds of her home in Lauriston in regional Victoria. In that time, musicians of the calibre of Timothy Young, Wilma Smith, Sophie Rowell, Dale Barltrop and Alex Raineri among many others have played for audiences who initially included mainly friends but soon widened to include anyone with a casual interest and deeper love of fine music, all wrapped in her generous and welcoming spirit.
Now, under the patronage of her daughter Brenna, Jan's legacy continues with a renewal of the series, not only in presenting world class classical musicians in a variety of spaces, both regional and metropolitan, but in potentially creating opportunities for emerging student musicians through outreach programs for schools including private lessons, masterclasses and collaborative performances. It is a vision that captures Jan's passion for music as a way of fostering education, encouraging interest in the arts and strengthening the bonds of friendship.
